Propylene Glycol Alginate (PGA) is a food additive that is commonly used as a thickening, stabilizing, and emulsifying agent in a wide variety of processed foods. It is derived from the esterification of alginic acid, which is extracted from brown seaweed. PGA is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) when used in accordance with good manufacturing practices. It is often added to beverages, baked goods, salad dressings, ice cream, and other food products to enhance their texture and stability.

1 As thickener, emulsifier and stabilizer, it is widely used in food industry;
2 With hydration, anti-aging and tissue improving properties, PGA is widely used in bakery and flour products;
3 PGA has good acid-proof property, so it can be used in condition of PH at 3-5;
